A Booming Opportunity

•May 17, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Today was a big step forward for The Volume Church. We had a chance to visit with Awaken Church. It was a eye opener and a kick in the butt that we needed. For months we have been dragging our feet and finding all the excuses in the world to not engage the community of Beltline. today myself and Sinclair devoted ourselves to launching The Volume Church. We discussed the hardships that will follow but maintained that the mission is greater than our hardships.

So we have decided to enage the comunity in the upcoming days with the love of Christ. We have been prospecting the area for months but never really engaged the area. The time is now and the field is ripe for harvest. We will be updating more frequently about the progress and how lives are being changed. We ask your prayers as alwasy as we take this leap…….This is a booming opporunity to do something great for the Kingdom of God.

New thoughts on church plant…..

Today, I write you with greater understanding of the mission of God and his providence. I have for the past few months continued upon my quest to find truth in the scriptures and through prayer. In a brief moment, I had clear vision for what God has called us to do. My sheer reluctance always gets in the way of accomplishing that very thing. I am so thankful to my wife that she asked a very simple question, “ Are we having bible study today and what time.”   Now this was one of the greatest answers to one of the questions that I had been searching for- which was where do I start.

Acts 1:8 gives clear definition of what a church should embody from the jump. The focus should be first placed upon you immediate area-home. That is where the disconnect came for me. I have missed my first place of discipleship which was home. Now my wife is saved and strong in Christ but I neglected to really engage her with the word of God. Not seeing that she was the first committed part of the mission. So I want to thank my beautiful wife, Tonya, for getting this ship back on track. Whatever happens from their happens but if it is just the two of us so be it…..we will carry the mission of evangelizing. There is where we stand as it relates to church planting- my wife and I studying the scriptures in our home.

Building the Team

•November 30, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Building the leadership of the VOLUME church has proven to be a major task of this movement. Because there is no cookie cutter example that we are following we have to take time to really scope things out. We have a few people on board but we understand that it will take more to reach accomplish the mission. Within the leadership team we will accomplish things that are essential to the DNA of the VOLUME church.  So as we get the team built the implementation of the other components will service. We are patience with moving at the pace that we are moving because of the necessity and vitalness of the mission.

Once the team is in place we will start building the rest of the community that we believe that God has placed in our heart. We are all clear on how that will look but we have some ideas. We are still in the early stages and God keeps reminding us of the task at hand. The city of Columbia is needful of this kind of community of faith. It is extremely different form the norm in the Columbia area as far as some of its presentation but the word of God will be preached all the same. So stay tuned to that happenings.

2 Month Update

•November 28, 2008 • Leave a Comment

For the past weeks, we have been on a holding pattern as God continues to chisel and perfect us for the  mission. As we search to build the core team that will ambush the land we meet constant barricades. Many have connected with us in support and we are thankful. We have been hit with job losses with some of our friends and foreclosure notices amongst many other things but we keep pressing forward. I remember when we started how everyone said that it would be a hard task but it is more than I ever thought would have been.

So we are in constant prayer and watching as God continues to prepare us for the mission of the VOLUME church. The last two months have been hectic but we are still standing.
